Fresh and Flavorful Middle Eastern Salad

When we first moved to the UAE, I was introduced to so many new flavors that quickly became part of my kitchen.

One of the first dishes I fell in love with was Lebanese fatoush.

We used to enjoy it at Lebanese restaurants or even at BBQ spots, often served alongside juicy shawarma or smoky chicken kebabs.

What struck me right away was its freshness. Every bite was a mix of crisp vegetables, tangy dressing, and crunchy toasted pita chips.

To this day, it remains one of my top salads . Coming second only to Greek xoriatiki (Greek village salad), which will always have my heart.

Hence, trust me, Lebanese fatoush is so good, it could easily take first place for many!

What is Lebanese Fatoush?

Fatoush is a traditional Middle Eastern salad made with a colorful mix of fresh vegetables, herbs, and crispy pieces of pita bread. What’s not to love, right?

Moreover,I really love that the pita is usually fried or toasted until golden, adding the perfect crunch to every bite.

The dressing usually Lebanese use is zesty and bright. It is often made with lemon juice, olive oil, and sumac . If you are not familiar with sumac, it’s a spice that gives the salad its signature tang.

It’s light yet satisfying, making it perfect as a side dish or even as a main course when paired with grilled meats or falafel.

Why You’ll Love Lebanese Fatoush

  • Fresh and Crunchy: Every ingredient brings a burst of flavor and texture.

  • Healthy: Packed with vegetables, herbs, and heart-healthy olive oil.

  • Versatile: Serve as a side or enjoy it as a main dish.

  • Simple Ingredients: Easy to prepare with pantry staples.

A Salad That Brings People Together

Food often tells a story. Lebanese fatoush reminds me of gatherings in the UAE with friends and family, where this salad was always on the table.

It’s more than just a side dish — it’s a celebration of freshness, flavor, and tradition. Make sure to try this beetroot salad too!

I dare you to try it! Once you do, you’ll fall in love with Lebanese fatoush and find yourself making it again and again.
